Extension Activities

  •  Sree Saraswathi Thyagaraja College has been at the forefront of organizing several Community-Based Extension Activities in and around Pollachi since 2005-2006 to till date.
  •  Extension Activities conducted by various Departments, Centers, NSS, YRC, NCC, MSW and other clubs of STC are categorized as follows:

Focus of the Extension Activities

STC stretches its hands to uplift society through various extension activities; this report contains the program highlights

  • To provide opportunities for the students to engage in social service and community activities.
  • To kindle a socially conscious mindset among the students.
  • To impart value-based holistic education in keeping with the vision of the college.

The Intended outcomes are that:

  • The students would learn to think beyond the boundaries.
  • The students would share their knowledge, skills and sources with the needy and the deprived community.
  • These initiatives would shape the student in a holistic manner that goes beyond classroom learning.
  • The concept is to provide the students with a purpose to learn and set goals for their future that extend beyond the self.

Centre for Rural Development

Centre for Rural Development organized a village household survey under Swatch Bharat Abhiyan under UBA-adopted villages. Awareness programmes on organic farming, kitchen gardening, ornaments making and other training on various Government schemes have been conducted in selected villages.

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), a flagship programme of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India. Higher educational institutions (HEIs) in the country adopt villages for their development. Faculty and students to be involved in the village development plan in collaboration with district administration. STC is participating in UBA and adopted following villages for their development in collaboration with district administration.
