B.Sc. (Data Science and Analytics) programme (related to data mining and big data) is a multi-disciplinary field that uses scientific methods, processes, algorithms and systems to extract knowledge and insights from structured and unstructured data. Data Science is to unify statistics, data analysis, machine learning and their related methods in order to “understand and analyse actual phenomena” with data. It employs techniques and theories drawn from many fields within the context of mathematics, statistics, computer science, and information science.
‍Combined with Data Science, Data Analytics is a process of inspecting, cleansing, transforming and modelling data with the goal of discovering useful information, informing conclusion and supporting decision-making. Data analysis has multiple facets and approaches, encompassing diverse techniques under a variety of names, and is used in different business, science, and social science domains as Data Scientists and Data Analyst.
