The PG Department of Computer Science at STC was established in the year 2005 with the main objective of imparting knowledge on the latest trend in the field of computer science and enables the students to excel themselves in the field of research with analytical, creative and problem solving skills to meet the current needs of the industry. The department has more than 100 students and a team of dedicated and experienced faculty to mould the students in various aspects. Board of Studies meetings is conducted every year to update the syllabus and introduce new courses to meet the industry requirements in consultation with field experts. The department is proud of its student’s association SAXON (Student Association for Excelling on New Technologies). The main motto of the association is to provide a platform for the students to achieve excellence in curricular and co-curricular activities. The department to its credit releases a magazine TECHNOCHIP to motivate the students to publish articles. The department also offers summer internship training programmes and project work through which students get the opportunities to develop their programming skills and gain exposure to the work in industry environment. Many of our students are placed in reputed organizations like Infosys, Wipro, CTS, TCS and Tech Mahindra etc.

The department was started in the year 2005 with a two year Postgraduate programme in Computer Science. The department undertakes the tasks of designing the curriculum; class room teaching and practical’s in the labs, conducting the examinations etc. STC’s MSc (Computer Science) Programme-Curriculum and the courses offered include a well balanced mix of topics dealing with the fundamentals and advances, as well as the recent developments. The concept of integration of theory and practice is another hallmark of the programme, which has been conceived and designed using the knowledge inputs of the finest professionals from industry and academia. The teaching-learning systems used in the programme also include peer learning, project-based learning, an internship – based learning experience and exposure to guest lectures by highly accomplished persons. The entire learning experience for students in the PG (Computer Science) programme has been designed to transform them into top class entry-level talent in all the work contexts and young persons with admirable professional and personal qualities.
Faculty & Research
The department has got experienced teaching faculty in varied fields of specialization. All the faculty members are active in carrying out their research and publish their research findings in refereed journals/ conferences very frequently.
All students are mentored by faculty members as part of student counseling. Academic monitoring committee frequently monitors the class work progress and any other student/ faculty grievances. Tutorial and Remedial classes are also conducted as part of the curriculum. Personality development / Communication Skills are integrated into the curriculum. Extensive industry interaction is carried out through Industry visits/ Industry training/ Internship/ Projects. Students are also involved in co-curricular and extracurricular activities. They are also members of professional societies like CSI, etc. Good number of students of the department also part of social service clubs like NCC, NSS, and Lions etc.
